For one person, their face lights up and they can tell you about the glorious history of Los Angeles as California’s first wine region, the devastation of Pierce’s Disease and how it swept through the vineyards and killed the grape vines, and the double whammy of Prohibition that came shortly after that. What had been hundreds of wineries and vineyard supplying the country with wine dropped to one.
